International focus: She has worked with bees and beekeepers in Sudan, Uganda, Costa Rica, and Panama.

Outreach activities: coordinates the annual Great Insect Fair, Bug Camp for Kids, Advanced Bug Camp for Kids and Bug Camp for Teachers.

How did you first become interested in your specialty? Through a conversation with a camp counselor at a youth conservation camp the year I graduated from high school.

What has been your most satisfying research experience (or greatest professional accomplishment) thus far?
Teaching beekeeping in Africa

If you could solve a single mystery in your field, what would it be?
IDENTIFYING THE CAUSE OF AND CURE FOR Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD)!

When you're not on campus working, where can you most often be found?
On our farm in Huntingdon County

What is the most interesting place you've ever traveled to? Uganda

I enjoy many, many different kinds of music and many artists. In keeping with the Africa theme, African "pop" artist: Samite

If you weren't a beekeeping specialist, what would you be doing right now?
Making and selling artisan cheese
