A conversation with Tao Lowe
"Tables, tires, and toys are polymers," says Tao Lowe. But polymers can also be used as
biomaterials in the body. Here, Lowe explains the ability of polymers to penetrate the blood-brain
barrier and how they are improving drug delivery systems to treat diseases such as Alzheimer's.
Says Lowe, "Penn State is really pushing the materials field into bio-application."
Tao Lu Lowe, Ph.D., is assistant professor of surgery, bioengineering, and materials science and engineering in the College of Medicine; tlowe@psu.edu.
